Are CDs Covered While In My Auto?
I just checked my mustang and I estimated that I've got about $500 worth of CD's in it. What if those CD's are damaged or stolen.. .any coverage under my homeowners or auto policies?
Well there can be two answers; on the auto it is a definitely NO! However on the homeowners it can be yes or no. The way a HO 0003 policy reads;
Coverage C - Personal Property
Property Not Covered.
3. Motor vehicles or all other motorized land conveyances. This includes:
a. Their equipment and accessories; or
b. Electronic apparatus that is designed to be operated solely by use of the power from the electrical system of motor vehicles or all other motorized land conveyances. Electronic apparatus includes:
(1) Accessories or antennas; or
(2) Tapes, wires, records discs or other media;
for use with any electronic apparatus.
Which means that if you have a CD player in your vehicle and you need to have the motor running for use, IT WILL NOT BE COVERED.
From what I can understand the only way it is covered, if you do not have a CD player in vehicle. But, do not forget the deductible on a homeowner's policy and most of them are $500 deductible. I suggest you keep on your receipts, make a log with the name, title and date/year of being bought, because now you have to prove ownership.
